All around Piazza Del Mercato at the top of Spoleto are small winding streets that open up in to grand spectacles. Sip an espresso beneath the facade of the Duomo. Stroll across the old Roman Viaduct and enjoy the view... don't look down!
Look up at La Rocca from the roads at night to see it illuminated, perched at the top of the town. You might catch an event at the Spoleto Festival in the old Roman open-air Amphitheatre.
Only a 40min drive from Spoleto, The Basilica in Assisi is home to some of the most exquisite fresco paintings and the cradle of the Renaissance.
Park at the top in the town's paid parking spot and wonder down through the streets. You'll eventually discover this immense cathedral with its views across the landscape.
Where many of you will have flown in to, Perugia is another beautiful, ancient city. Lookout viewing terraces, churches, cathedral and some dramatic Etruscan architecture throughout the historic centre.
Car park at Piazza Partigiani. Take the escalator to the top of the town's historic centre.
Head to Le Due Querce, where Dom used to terrorise the other diners when he was 12-years-old. Alternatively, Pizzeria La Ginestra near Sustrico has an amazing Nutella Pizza dessert.
If you're walking around at the top of the old town of Spoleto, head to the takeout pizzeria in Piazza del Mercato for a square slice of heaven.
You are coming to the olive oil capital of the world. Why not indulge?! Most of the production is from small family businesses. We may be slightly out of season for the very freshest harvest but search around the village of Trevi for open mills and tastings.

Hidden away in the heart of Umbria is probably the last place you'd expect to find a superb vegan chef. His cooking is creative, colourful and very tasty. If you're self-catering while you're here it could be a good place to stock up on a few essentials. Find them here.

DEI PINI
If a good hearty, Italian meal is what you're after then head to Dei Pini, not too far from the Spoleto train station. Big bowls of pasta, mouth-watering lamb chops, sausages and everything Umbrian.
The Spoleto Festival is a yearly cultural arts event that takes over the town. It runs over the last 2 weeks of June and first 2 weeks in July. It features concerts and operas, contemporary dance and ballets, films, theatre shows, talks and lectures (not all in Italian!).
